Painting what remains beneath the surface.

There is a place between the last layer and the next brushstroke where the unknown lives: that is where the future begins.
Matter Memory Transformation
Ana López Berridy explores memory, matter and transformation through contemporary painting.
Layers, glazes, earths and minerals build surfaces where the visible coexists with what remains hidden. Every work holds its own memory. Like people do.

Return to the Earth
After Layers of the Invisible, painting begins to leave the purely pictorial surface behind. Clay, lime, marble dust, sand and mineral pigments arrive: materials with weight, memory and a time of their own.
Matter no longer represents something. It is part of the meaning. Surfaces that crack, react and keep the trace of their own making, like a Mediterranean wall that has aged under the sun.

Surfaces that hold memory
Paintings that seem to have lived a previous life, even when they have only just been made.
